Thanks for your Ministry Dewey! You can't be replaced.
Dewey Shaw served as Mamrelund’s Volunteer Ministries Coordinator since 2006. Last Year (2018) Dewey announced that he was going to take an active volunteer role rather than a staff position. W are currently evaluating the need and what type of staffing we should consider as we move forward in the ministry at Mamrelund. Dewy's primary responsibility had been to promote volunteerism among members and friends of the congregation in order to strengthen the service and outreach of the congregation. He had the task of recruiting and scheduling the 80 or so volunteers for our food pantry and clothing bank which is open every weekday morning and Tuesday evening. He also helped to secure volunteers to help with special events.
Dewey had played an important role in cultivating the stewardship of our members. He was heavily involved in the two successful building campaigns for the Mamrelund Community Center. He has offered the 13 session Dave Ramsey Financial Peace seminar twice to members and nonmembers. He still serves as a representative for the Mamrelund Endowment Fund. Dewey has written grant proposals for our food pantry and we have received funding from resources outside the congregation. He continues to teach adult bible study every Sunday morning and serves on the witness committee. Dewey continues to assist Pastor Mike in the spiritual care of our members with the Stephen's Ministers, who visit shut-ins and those in the hospital as needed.
